How does the shopping cart work?
You simply select everything you wish to purchase and at the checkout you can assign selected items to go to specific addresses.

Do you enclose a gift card or message that can be sent along with my purchase?
Yes, we can enclose any gift card you wish to provide. Or, we can inscribe your personal greeting on our own enclosed gift cards.

No, the shipping and handling is additional, rates may vary depending on the delivery service required or selected.

What is the difference between Certified Angus Beef and others?
Certified Angus Beef is the best of the best. It has to pass 7 qualifications to be graded “Certified” Angus Beef. Only 7% of all cattle produced meet this qualification standard. “Certified Angus Beef” is of a higher quality than regular “Angus Beef”. Also, our steaks are specifically aged and trimmed to our rigid specifications to provide the finest steaks possible.

Do you offer gift certificates? And how are these redeemable?
Yes, we offer gift certificates in three price points, with a choice of nine items in each level. If that doesn’t meet your needs we can customize a gift certificate for you in any price point or product you wish your recipient to receive. We will send the certificates to you, your office, or your recipient’s home or office; whichever way you prefer. The recipient simply sends in the certificate for redemption, and the product is on its way. Please see our gift certificate link for further information.

How are your products shipped across the country to guarantee a safe arrival?
Our products are shipped in a reusable styrene cooler and packed with dry ice to ensure its safe arrival. We also send arrival notices to your recipients prior to shipping notifying them of the shipping date.

What happens when the product I ordered does not arrive at its destination or arrives in a damaged condition? How can I return this product?
First, to check on the status of any shipment contact us at 1-800-562-5660 or email us at and we will trace it for you. Second, all our products carry an unconditional satisfaction guarantee. If received in damaged condition, contact us and we will promptly replace the package for you. However, we can not be responsible if an incorrect address was given originally.

How should I store my product when it arrives?
If by chance your product is received partially frozen, you can either put it in the freezer to use at a later date with no harm done, or continue to thaw in the refrigerator if you plan to use the product right away. Some products come fresh and not frozen.

If my steaks arrive partial thawed, can I refreeze them?
Yes you can refreeze steaks and other foods without damage to the product, assuming they haven’t been thawed for a long period and are warm and spoiled. You will know if they are by the smell. If you are going to use the product soon (within 24-48 hours), it is best to leave unfrozen but refrigerated.

How long can I keep my product(s) in the freezer?
You should always rotate your frozen foods and try to use them within a 6-8 month period. That doesn’t mean products will spoil after that time, just that all frozen products will dehydrate in the freezer over time. If you notice any damage to the outer packaging you should consider using in sooner than later to avoid exposing the product to freezer burns.

Our product came with a small jar of Schaul’s Seasoning, can I buy it separately?
Yes, we now carry our award winning seasoning and barbecue sauces separately. You will find them in the barbecue shopping section.

Why is a Schaul’s Turkey better tasting than a supermarket bought turkey?
Schaul’s Premium Turkeys are produced in cooler growing climates and specially fed to produce a maximum flavor and yield. They are also processed within 30-60 days from the date of distribution. Thus, our turkeys do not incur a long cold storage time typical of supermarkets and other distributor’s products.

Are Fresh turkeys better and can you ship a fresh turkey?
Yes, fresh is always better than frozen. We can ship a fresh turkey overnight. Otherwise, we can ship a frozen one via UPS ground service.

How do I cook your turkey?
On the back side of the turkey bag there are complete cooking and thawing instructions. You may also look on our web site’s cooking instructions page. We recommend cooking your turkey with the breast side down in the beginning to help retain its juiciness. Brush your turkey with vegetable oil prior to cooking.

What does self-basting mean?
A self-basted turkey has been injected with a basting solution to help retain juiciness. Our premium Schaul’s Turkeys are basted with a natural turkey broth.

What size turkey do I buy?
Figure 1 pound (raw weight) per person. If having 12 people figure a 12-14 pound turkey. If you want more breast meat buy a bigger turkey or an additional turkey breast.

Is there a difference between a hen and a tom turkey?
Just in the size, there is no taste or tenderness difference. Hens range from 10 pounds up to 16 pounds, Toms range form 16 pounds up to 30 pounds.

What is the best way to thaw a turkey?
See the back side of the turkey bag for proper safe handling instructions. To thaw, place in a refrigerator and figure 4 hours per pound of turkey thawing. To thaw quicker, place in cold water and change water every 2 hours.

Do your turkeys come with pop-up timers?
Yes they do. Unfortunately, a pop-up timer is a small plastic device that is not always inserted properly in the production process. Pop-up timers are marketing gimmicks that tend to overcook turkeys. We suggest you use a natural thermometer to get the proper inside temperature reading. This should be inserted in the large part of the breast and the internal temperature should be 160 degrees.

What makes a Schaul’s ham so much better than others?
Our hams are a skinless, shankless, natural juice, defatted ham, which is the best that can be produced. They are specially selected and trimmed of all excess fat and bone, and cured with their own natural juice (no water added) to give you the maximum yield possible, along with overall quality and flavor.

Are your hams available spiral sliced and glazed?
Yes, you can order our bone-in hams either whole or spiral sliced with a choice of a ham glaze packet. Our boneless hams only come whole non sliced. We recommend non sliced hams for maximum flavor and juiciness. Once you slice a ham, it loses its natural juice when cooking. We don’t put the glaze on it originally because some don’t wish to have it, so we pack it in a pouch to make it optional.

Can I freeze a smoked ham?
Smoked hams have a fair amount of shelf life. If you do not intend to use the ham within a few weeks, you should freeze it. We do not recommend freezing hams. However, the better the quality of the ham, the less salt and water there is in it. Our hams can be frozen without a major loss of quality. When thawing a frozen ham, thaw slowly in the refrigerator.

Do I have to cook your smoked hams?
Our hams are fully cooked; you can eat them in a cold state, or heat them up to serve warm. To heat, bring the ham to room temperature first, and then heat up for 10 minutes a pound at 325 degrees.

How long can I keep my ham before freezing it?
Our smoked hams have a refrigerated shelf life of 60 days provided the packaging is still sealed and air-tight, although we recommend that you use them within 45 days for the best quality. If you are not going to use the ham right away, you may freeze a ham in air-tight packaging for up to one year – beyond that it will become dehydrated.

Can I get the gourmet chocolates, fruit baskets, and fancy nuts throughout the year?
Yes, you can order these items all year, but for larger orders, we will need at least two weeks notice.

I have family/friends outside of the United States that I want to send a food gift. Can you handle international transactions?
Sorry, all our shipments are confined to the United States because of restrictions with customs.
